Sending a Micrologx 1200 unit to a rural area. The customer has no way to go online and reset faults or veiw the program. Is it standard practice to set the S:1/12 to 1 and the S:1/8 to 1 in order to overide any faults at power-up? Does anything else need to be changed from the factory settings? Thanks

That is all I ever do with the remote micrologix units. I set the bits in the data table and make a big bold comment in the first rung of the main routine that this has been done and why in case someone else tries reseting status bits at a future date.

Cheap insurance: an EEPROM module.

Be sure you carefully write and test any math logic that has the ability to overflow, including counters and MUL and DIV instructions. That's the single biggest cause I've found of rural or remote controllers that require expensive service visits.

Ok

By setting S:1/8 enables fault override at powerup.
By setting S:1/12 sets the processor to run always.

I assume this is doen so if the PLC power is cycled S:1/8 clears an error that may have existed and S:1/12 means the processor will continue to run despite a math overflow error and other problems?
