It is one thing to use a paticular program well but actually writting the program can be another thing. Is there a good informative book on the market that covers programming in different senarios or situations?

Right here on this web page you can get a manual that covers the basics. Good introduction.

There is also a book by Gary Dunning Programmable Logic Controllers

ALSO Programmable Logic Controllers by Frank Petruzella
ISBN 0 07 829852 0. I think it is written better than Dunning and covers a bit more.
