Hi all,

We are trying to make a SoftPLC communicate with a server, but can't seem to make it work. A possible cause is the following error we see in Wireshark every few seconds:

206740 1990.105300000 192.168.30.63 192.168.30.134 TCP 60 102→50049 [RST, ACK] Seq=1 Ack=35 Win=0 Len=0

Flag 0x014 (RST, ACK) Reset: set.

The SoftPLC is trying to communicate in port range 49163-65534 but is seems to be blocked on server side. How would you open these TCP ports or configure the PLC to communicate with open ports?

The solution was to open the Windows Component Services (dcomcnfg.exe) and edit limits for COM Security to allow a user local and remote COM access. Didn't think the application would be using COM 🙃

SoftPLC is a trademark of SoftPLC Corporation in the USA, and that product's logic most closely resembles an Allen-Bradley PLC. The product you are referring to is not the official SoftPLC, but some other product.
