Difference between single media and redundant media

Good Day,

Sorry for the newbie question. can anyone explain to me what is the difference between single media and redundant media. i am new in the compactlogix plc i don't know what to use between 1769-l32c or 1769-L35CR i am going to connect the PLC to a DCS that uses controlnet for I/O communication thanks for your help
