Ethical problem

SMOKE,
I will pray that you make the "right" decision.
I know this is not very PC, but it makes more sense than anything else.

Your problem is political rather than ethical.
Slave-owner has the right to dispose of a slave.
The ethical problem:
- to go on the fair
- or go and hurt ungrateful owner.
Is it ethical to create Stuxnet? No !

Over the years I have worked for a number of large companies with good pension plans etc, it was considered a guaranteed job for life. I then learned new words such as downsizing or rightsizing. The only concerns that the companies had were cutting their targeted number staff in the most efficient manner.

After a number of years I started my own business. Due to the fact that I worked for a number of companies in different capacities I have a lot of very good marketable skills. That is my job security.

Be loyal to the company when you are working for them and don't burn any bridges but make sure you do what is right for yourself both in terms of money and challenging interesting work.

Don't burn your bridges behind you because some fool might be burning them in front of you.

For example: About 10 years ago, my brother (not an engineer) accepted a job offer from another company which was a competitor in some markets. The next morning, he went to his supervisor to give her two weeks notice and received the standard two weeks severance pay and a security escort while he cleaned out his office. When he got home there was a message to call his new boss, who then asked my brother to bring the names of the outside salesmen and their contacts from his former employer when he started the new job! Obviously, this was a major breach of the non-disclosure agreements he'd signed as well as his personal ethics. Since he'd received no advance payments and taken no action other than signing and returning the offer, he was able to tell this guy in no uncertain terms what to do with his offer and then get his old job back.

I agree with Ken. Did you take this training with the understanding that the new employer would hire you with the new skill set? NO you already answered that. Did you get this job because of the training? No again

I would have moral problem if this had aranged this ahead of time. If that where the case you wouldn't have asked this to start with.

Tom said honest day for honest pay. Keep that in mind even on those bad days.
I left a a job higher pay job for less headache. About 20k keep tha in mind.

I think this is more of a moral issue than ethical. It could go both ways. I read several replies that sounded to me like they where responding to this from the moral side. By asking this you showed your morals. Ethically I don't see any problem with changing jobs.

As long as there are no formal written agreements I'd say your commitment to the company is at the same level as their commitment to retaining you if it became economically unfeasible to do so.

Now personal understandings between you and management are another thing entirely. Talk with management about those. But it's still your future and that of your family which usually takes precedence.

Wow, I never expected this response, I am ... unsure. I hate to burn bridges. I left my first place over money, now they contact me for 4 times what I was getting paid when I worked there. My work now treats me awesome, but pay is reduced. I am going to see what this other co. Offerers.
BTW This new place has no robots. The excite me with a large array of placement.
