Hi

Just a short question, today I had a small discussion with some guys at work and we could not really agree on this topic. So now I am relaying on all of you.

What is the difference between HMI and MMI if any

Regards
Brian

Political Correctness

MMI is quickly becoming an extinct species because there are a declining number of true 'M's left due to the above mentioned PC among other things in this world.

I predict the HMI will soon be replaced with a GLBTMI in some applications so that the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgenders will not be left out.

MMI= Man machine interface

this is not politically correct since there is no FMI (female machine interface).:ROFLMAO:
So if you have to choose, use HMI (human machine interface)

I always thought it was funny that the AB drives use Human Interface Module, or HIM. It only seems fair that there be a HER module also.

Would that be a Human Extraface Module?
TOL
This would allow the machine to interupt the operator?

Actually, Rockwell did try to develop a HER module for the PowerFlex drives.

But it would never tell you what was really wrong.

As a result of this discussion my wife wanted you to read this. :rolleyes:

A SPANISH teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike
English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.
"House" for instance, is feminine: "la casa."
"Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz."
A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"
Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups,
male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer"
should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine
gender ("la computadora"), because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is
incomprehensible to everyone else;
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible
later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half
your salary on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine
("el computador"), because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE
the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little
longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

points made by guys are really solid, points made by girls
could apply to either gender depending on who and how one looks at it...
after all judge (teacher) was a female too :p:p:p:p:p:p

men just would not tell to women such things like:
- they are the problem
- if they waited a bit longer they would have found better one...
because they know that even existing one is high maintenance already.

this could be interpreted as proof that men do think for themself...

This is very, very funny. You think the interface will shut down once a month for maintenance?

I think you mean GLBTMVMI in stead of GLBTMI.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgenders, Male, Female, Machine Interface

But what if annimals evolve to operate machines? We would then have to add the A aswell.

I think the best indication would be:

BMI : Brain to Machine Interface :rolleyes:

(As far as I know al lifeforms with some kind of intelligence have a brain???)

Or maybe

OMI : Organism to Machine Interface

Back to the real post,

Our plant uses MANY standards...

MMI Man-Machine Interface
HMI Human Machine Interface
GUI Graphical User Interface
OIT Operator Interface Terminal

All of the above are considered standards, in different countries.
