Can any one recommend a B-size printer, ink jet or laser jet?

Will be used for Drawings. I like the old Cannon 2550's and a HP laserjet that I once had, but neither are still available.

Local stores don't have a clue what I am talking about, and I haven't had much success online finding anything.

Anybody got a good recommendation, for a cost-efffective (READ cheap) printer?

Prefer a name brand like HP, Cannor, Epson, or Panasonic.

I have a Panansonic myself, trouble free, but it is also over 10 (15?) years old.

thanks.....kc

We use an HP5100 for most of our day to day stuff. It does A3, which is close to 11*17.
This type of printer is generally sold at the larger, specialist computer shop. You should ring up the HP, Cannon or other printer supplier local office, this way they can either sell you direct or put you onto their local agent.

OK I have a Dataproducts 1560. 3 500 sheet trays. 11X17 at 300 DPI. The Toner is about $385.00 CDN. It weighs 106lbs. Total print count of 32578 pages. It has a duty cycle of 20,000 sheets. Any one interested? ... :) Comes with 2 - 8.50 X 11 and 1 - 11 X 17 trays.

HP DeskJet 9800..Does up to 11x17 works great in black and white and colour, It cost me about $300 canadian

The only pain is it only has one paper drawer, so you have to change the paper when going from a4 to 11x17

I used an HP5Si for years on 11x17 without a problem. I'm sure the 5000 series is just as good. I've heard some nice things about the 5100, which is the update to the 5SI.

If this is for drawings, in an envirornment where you print many, stay away from Ink Jets, unless you really love spending money on ink.

If you do go with a laser, spend the extra bucks, and get one with multiple paper trays, and a duplexer (5100dtn comes with both). You'll be glad you did at some point.
