Omron NJ301 and CompactLogix 1769-L33ER EthernetIP Implicit Messaging

Hi guys,

I am trying to share two tag sets (omron2ab and ab2omron) between the above mentioned cpu.

I tried installing the 1769-L33ER CPU eds in Omron Network Configurator but I am not able to configure its tags, and then to define connections.

No better luck in RS Logix 5000, as I am not able to find any NJ eds to install. Tried with EIP21 but not able to define tags here either.

Any one did something like that?

Please, do not redirect me to tutorials of similar device as probably I have already read it, but the procedure is not appliable to the CPUs I am working on.

Since I discovered the Red Lion datastation plus, I have found data exchange between different PLCs extremely simple.

Messing around with direct comms between these 2 PLCs while technically possible will cost a lot of time with trial and error and pain. You may even shed a tear or two.

The Red Lion will do it simply for less than US$1000.

I was missing the 4 status bytes from AB to Omron, and your guide was very helpful!

Now it works like a charm, and it seems we saved around $1000

Good to know it works. I thought you would need and EDS in AB. I will hang on to that guide in case I need it.
I suppose I am a little pessimistic after once I wasted a week trying to get Omron Profinet card talking to Siemens PLC only to eventually give up and got the red lion working in half an hour.
