That is an example of applied control theory. It is actually quite simple and the theory has been around for years. What makes this possible is the regenerative linear motors and the feedback at a reasonable cost. If you want the suspension stiffer just increase the derivative gain. I bet there is some adaptive tuning going on so the car weight afects the gains but it doesn't need to be that accurate.
