Hi, in textile weaving machines like Sulzer G6200, generally 7 - 8 logic control cards are employed to take different sensor information and accordingly run the machine. Is it good to use PLC in these machines in place of so many control cards for different purposes? Can PLC process multiple sensor information so fast (in uSecs)? Is it economical to use PLC in terms of initial installation and maintenance in the long run (10 - 20 years)?

Thanks.

Thanks @harrydeharry for your quick response. I also think PLCs can be used for these applications and I have seen many Chinese textile machine manufacturing companies using PLCs only but then I wonder why almost every big textile company prefers to use specialized control cards instead. I am looking for some detailed response which could give some estimates regarding the speed of response, installation cost, maintenance etc.

I also welcome a few more expert replies who could shed some more light on this.

Thanks.
