I have and existing PLC5/30 processor, there is a new panel coming working with a micrologix controller either 1200 or 1100.

What I’d like is some advice on how I could establish communications between the two at the least cost. Information would just be minor alarms etc.

I’ve always had the thought about connecting controllers together using the DF1 protocol however never seen this implemented between controllers is it possible? Or is there a better option?

Basically you have different possibilities:

With both Micrologix - DF1 may be used
[ PLC-5 (Ch. 0) ] ----- [ DB-25 Male / DB-9 Male Adapter ] ----- [ 1761-CBL-PM02 ] ----- [ Micrologix ]
You may also insert an AIC+ between the two PLCs-
[ PLC-5 (Ch. 0) ] ----- [1784-CP10] ----- [ 1761-NET-AIC port 1]----- [ 1761-NET-AIC port 2]-----[ 1761-CBL-HM02 ] ----- [ Micrologix ]

Only With MX1100 - Ethernet using 1761-NET-ENI
[ PLC-5 (Ch. 0) ] ----- [ DB-25 Male / DB-9 Male Adapter ] ----- [ 1761-CBL-PM02 ] ----- [ 1761-NET-ENI ]

Hope this helps...
