Red Lion G304K /Serial Port

I am having a problem with downloading to the G304K. I am getting an error messager that reads "No acknowlege from target device". I know that Red lion sells a USB to serial cable to fit the CBLSK000. But I am using a serial port on the back of my desktop, and not the USB/serial cable. Has anyone been successful using serial port? Or do you have to use Red Lion's USB cable?

You don't have to use our converter. The converter is for customers who don't have a serial port on their computer. I would suggest that you do try another computer though to see if that makes a difference for you.

As it turned out. I got a defective cable. CBLSK000 cable is not connected between PC pin 2 to HMI pin 7. Need to replace the cable.
