Hi all

I have the task of replacing a slc 100. From what I have read here the most cost effective way is to use a micrologix. I am very familiar with AB PLC's so I want to stick with them. The only problem I seem to have is that the inputs and outputs are 24VAC. I am not sure there is amicrologix model that will suit my application.I had a look at the specs on AB's website and it appears that they only have 24vdc or 120vac inputs. Does anyone know anymore about this sort of problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

It's been a long, long time since SLC100, but I don't remember them having a 24VAC option, either...

SLC100 Replace with Micro

We have replaced many of the SLC100's and 150's with Micrologic 1000 when the I/O of the SLC150 was not maxed out. I use 1761-L32AWA as a direct replacement if you can get away with the I/O limitation - 20 Inputs and 12 outputs. Inputs are AC and Outputs can be either AC or DC in 5 groups depending on how you power them. I've always used all the outputs as AC because that is what it was replacing. Just need to be sure the relay output is quick enough for your application.

You have to use the PanelView now to replace the T-CAT. In the past I've used the MicroView 2707-MVP232 to change timers and counters. It will allow changes without a program being written. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and now I'm having to write programs to change the timers.( actually editing a master).

Hope this helps - Good Luck.

The micrologix 1000 1761-L16NWA and the 1761-L16NWB units have 24VAC compatible inputs and relay outputs. Its 10 in and 6 out - You didn't say how much IO you needed but the basic SLC-100 without any expansion IO has 10 in and 6 out (10 in 6 out expansion module and a 12 out expansion module existed). The basic SLC-150 had 20 in and 12 outs.

Hi Adain

I have replaced a good few slc 100 with micro logix 1100.I
find these the best as they have a ethernet port. Are the inputs
sensors, switches etc.If you could change out some of them you could switch the Dc through a relay. There is a micro logix with 24 vac inputs ,part no 1761-L16NWA

I am based in Tippereary and if you need anymore help just
drop me a mail.
