Rslogix 5000 and External Database

A PLC program in my facility is currently obtaining data from a certain database. I have been asked to change the PLC program to read from a different database. Completely lost on how to go about this. Not familiar with any type of database communications with a PLC.

I am running RSlogix 5000. Before I was hired on, another programmer had created this program to talk to a development database. I have been asked to change it to the production database, so managers can enter certain bits of data in.

I feel like this is a simple thing to do, i just have not had any training in this particular area.

As I suggested in your prior post, find out how it's talking to the DB right now.

Start at where you know the data is located, either at HMI or PLC or? What kind of HMI is it talking to right now? Can you see the database data on the HMI screen? If so, how far can you track it to?
