Square-D Sy-max PLC question

hello i had a pallet nailer go down yesterday the CPU appears to have had better days. I was wondering if anyone new about these old Sy-max PLC's. circa 1990. The Cpu that is no good is a model 400 series C1 SCP-423. The only spare CPU i have is a model 500 series M SCP-522. It is from another nailing machine very similar to the on that crashed. does anyone know if they would be interchangable. i would like to put the good 500 into the old 400 chasis download and go.

I could be wrong about the following info. The manuals links I found are from a google search. Not a complete answer but it appears that the 423 has 8k ram whereas the 522 has 4k ram. It also appears that the 423 may have floating point capability whereas the 522 does not.
