Ran into this issue and took a while troubleshooting the compatibility, was not in the release notes that i could find. Anyways had just installed v21.03.00 of Studio5000 on a new VM system and was going through testing connectivity on existing programs prior to break down of equipment and ran across an issue with opening some of existing PLC Programs. Giving the fault "Logix Designer support for this revision is not installed. To open this project you must: 1) Cancel and install Logix Desginer support for firmware revision 21.00, or 2) Change the controller's revision and/or type in the project."
The program was originally built in 21.00.00 and was not opening in 21.03.00. Went online with an older server build with 21.00.00 installed and went online just fine. Controller version was 21.11. Tried the conversion of the controller while on the server with 21.03.00 installed, made a copy of the program file and used that for conversion, after the conversion the controller version was still 21.11. However the converted program would now not open in version 21.00.00.
Given that the site i work at has multiple programmers and engineers it was best to not make changes to the controller version and download the converted program to the PLC, the only way for the program to connect to the controller after converting to 21.03.00.
Anyways, hopefully this saves you some potential headache should you run across this same issue in house or with a client.
i should also note that if installing the version sequentially, v21.00.00 then v21.03.00, the 21.03.00 will overwrite the 21.00.00
