If you have specific questions after studying for a bit, don't be afraid to post them. However, the answers tend to be PLC Brand specific, so keep that in mind. Better questions result in better answers.

Did you have a particular brand of PLC in mind that you wanted to start on? The manufacturer may have literature on offer.

according to the question above, the PLC brand would be SIEMENS or OMRON, thanks for your help

Here's a decent Omron PLC Beginners guide which should help.
It does use Syswin for the programming example which is older Omron software, but I guess this is OK as you should be able to get a copy fairly cheap or free.
