I know I will have to deal with an AB 5/03 in the near future so have been reading up on the communication connections etc. I know the 1747-CP3 or a null modem cable will work
BUT
If i make my own cable do I need to connect it like this:
Code:
2 - 3
3 - 2
7 - 8
8 - 7
5 - 5
1,4, - 6
6 - 1, 4
Or will just 2-3, 3-2, and 5-5 work? I already have that made.

You're fine, Ron

A three-wire cable (2-3, 3-2, 5-5) works just fine. Use it all the time.

I was once caught in the field without a cable or any tools except what the local electrician had, which wasn't much.. Hacked apart an old 9-pin cable, and used electrical tape to attach paper clips to the ends. Worked, as long as you didn't jiggle the cable....

2-3, 3-2, 5-5 cable will work with default settings.
Make sure handshaking is not enabled in PLC port configuration.

Just make sure you have a 3-wire null-modem cable, don't forget to connect the bridges at both ends.

Kind regards,
