Hello All,

I am looing for AB Studio 5000 software.

Being a Siemens/Schneider guy its hard to find the softwares for downloading.

Can anyone share the links for a complete download of the software?

Use the Rockwell Automation Korea website to find your local RA sales office or authorized distributor.

https://www.rockwellautomation.com/ko-kr.html

RA has significant infrastructure in Korea, including even selling ControlLogix as a brand-labeled Samsung controller domestically. But the distribution channel is still how you buy Rockwell products and software.

You need to contact your local Rockwell office or distributer and buy the software, there are no free downloads, and any other way of getting the software is called theft.

Hello alan,

Thanks for the reply. Will contact the local agent.
I am trying for a software download that can test for my PC compatibility and self-learning. Almost all company gives a trial period say 7 days or at least a month.
That's what I have asked for.
No comments for your theft assumption.(y)

But was wondering why it's not open for a trial download.

Korean market seems saturated with the local PLC makes( LG --> LS and Mitsubishi).
But recently Other platforms are gaining momentum.

Because of their dominance in their home market of North America, and also because of their desire to have experienced professional integrators use their products more than self-taught practitioners, Rockwell does not have a broad free trial program for their flagship automation software toolset.

There is certainly debate about whether that is a wise approach, but that's been how they have done it for 30 years.

RA does provide incentives and discounts in the markets where they are an emerging player, but they don't do it the same worldwide, and rely on the discretion of their local sales offices and distributors.

I totally understand You.
Being at the other side of the world RS family is new to me.
I have seen many installation here in Korea but most comes as part of package systems.

Ken, although I sort of agree, how about this story some 15-20 years ago, RW decided to limit their supply companies indeed here in the UK they did a real job of that, they even bought out a leading repair company who specialise in AB hardware, then the prices rocketed, I sent a PV550 away for repair which we had done many times before, the price was above a new one from one of their depleted distributors (allowing for our discount). We also purchased over £60,000 worth of software from them & the one & only time I had a query they said it will take 4 days unless you have a tech connect contract. From that point on we decided to drop AB/RW big time, instead moving to Mitsubishi or Siemens, Our local RW rep called in and actually helped me find the problem we had, he was also disgusted at their strong arm tactics & was moving on as he said he could not work for a company like that. Over the next 15-20 years we replaced all but a couple of AB systems with Mitsubishi, Siemens & Beijers, The total loss of trade to RW must have been in the region of over £1m and that was for what would be a small company. I have heard similar rants from some acquaintances whom I got to know over a 20 year period working for a systems house. I have heard all about experienced integrators, there were a number of companies that were approved systems for Siemens & Rockwell, I worked with a number of them, some were good, some were awful and have no idea why two main stream PLC manufacturers would even consider them professional.

Having commissioned a control system developed by Rockwell themselves, I'd say that they've utterly failed at this. When your own developers can't follow a manual (pretty good one at that) to set up an alarm in their own platforms, this can't be used an excuse.

This is similar in my experience. I had a complete Rockwell site, unbelievable resistance to move away from Rockwell from the old timers and was happy to move away from iFix...

Rockwell decided to be themselves and ended up losing the whole site to Siemens. The first project was quoted at 40k without any installation and commissioning which would be invoiced on a daily basis. Siemens quoted the whole thing at 40k... when looking at the overall cost of replacing the entire site, it was a no brainer.

It was also pretty ****ing stupid of the Rockwell account manager, in a meeting with the automation lead, project engineer and engineering manager ask "Who's making the decision on this?" and ignore everyone else in the room... but can't fault Rockwell for inheriting poor staff on their acquisitions.

Back to OP's original question, a possible answer from an evaluation standpoint is the RSLogix Micro Starter Lite freebie, which is more akin to RSLogix 500, maybe not too far off RSLogix 5000 (now obsolete and replaced by Studio 5000). Also CCW which has a freebie mode. Both with freebie emulators and plenty of YouTubes to get started.

But if it has to be Studio 5000, "you can do better, but not more expensive."

One of the most expensive logic programming software packages available...
Studio 5000 Standard... just basic logic programming... almost $5K
Oh you want to do function blocks?... more money
Oh Sequential function Charts or Structed Text (SFC, ST)... more money

Might as well go for Studio 5000 Full will get it all..$8K...might as well mortgage your house..

THEN we get into yearly fees for support. Now we are talking $800 to $1500 depending on what version and you even have to pay for the FIRST year of support???

Do not get me going...
