Open Comm Port using FactoryTalk View SE

Is it posible to get FactoryTalk View SE to open the Comm port of the computer? I have a USB to Serial converter attached to my computer. I know how to get Excel to open the Comm port (shows as COMM6) using VB Scripting. But when I try to use the same script in FTView SE it errors out.
