Siemens MMC corruption?

CPU 314-2 PN/DP, was online via laptop over ethernet, then CPU placed in STOP, MMC was removed and placed into SD card slot of an ordinary laptop (came up as 4+ separate storage devices, windows threatening to format all of them), MMC immediately removed from SD card slot with no changes or formats made, and placed back into PLC, and then PLC was switched to RUN mode. Now cannot go online with the PLC via ethernet (but can still ping it). What has happened? Was the MMC corrupted by the laptop SD port? Upon switching back to RUN, was the program in the PLC overwritten with corrupt data? If I get a MMC with the program on it, can I replace the existing one and the PLC will be restored? If I receive the backup in an email can I have someone with a siemens PG with MMC slot reformat the MMC and dump the emailed program onto it?

Was the PLC powered down, then the MMC inserted? If not, power off the PLC for a while, then power it on with the MMC inserted. Removing and inserting the MMC with power on is like removing your hard drive while your computer is running... it doesn't go so well.

If your PLC is running normally after all this, chances are the MMC is fine. If it isn't, then something went wrong.

As long as you didn't format, or write something to the card, it should be fine.

No.

Yes, if it has the correct program on it.

Yes, if the MMC is not damaged in some way.

Thank you for the reply. Tried cycling power and it came back the same way, unable to go online with it. But somehow I was able to successfully download to it, afterwards I could go online. I suspect the MMC is fine if I was able to download, correct?

You seem to be concerned with going online. Does the CPU run? Meaning does it execute whatever program ot supposed to?

All is working well now, but at the time it wasn't really easy to tell whether the CPU was doing its job or not. The CPU was in RUN mode but machine was stuck in a disabled state due to safety circuits not satisfied in other areas of the line. Outputs would have been disabled whether the CPU was working or not.
