Does anyone know the meaning of an 'outputs in fault'
indication on the front panel of a Flex DeviceNet adapter?

My indicator lights, left to right, were:
RED: Critical adapter fault
Flashing RED: Recoverable fault - outputs in fault
GREEN: Power applied.

The IO modules attached are:
SLot 0: 16 pt AC input
Slot 1: 8 pt contact output module
Slot 2: 8 pt contact output module

Cycling power made the indication go away.

Fault State

The ADN has a configurable fault state. You can select outputs off, outputs to last state or outputs to safe state. I believe the module is telling you you that the state of the ouptuts have been set to the congfigured fault state because of the adapter fault. I would check the baud rate against the distance to see if you are in spec.

yea, its on my list

I have the baud set to 500kBPS, and, on paper, that's
acceptable.

Funny thing...this is the first thing my distibutor told
me to change... hmmmm

Derek, if what you're saying is true, this is what I'd
call a 'Who shot John' situation. In other words, which
problem caused which symptom.

I did re-seat the modules, and check to make sure the
flex connectors were tight.

This was a one-time fault, but, it happened shortly after
installing the flex lineup, into a system that was already
running and stable. Up to that point, all was well.

Thanks for the reply
