Index Registers

Think of a book! (a technical book maybe) that you need some information from.

At the front is this book is the INDEX, this starts at page 1.

The FILES (pages) you need start from page 2 to 100

But you want to know what is on page 75

You put your finger at the top of the index page and move it down until you are at Page 75

You have gone through 74 pages to get to the information you need

Presuming the INDEX is pointing at Page 1, you add 74 to it and you are at the information you need
