Hi I have a little problem with communicating to a A1SH CPU throug a Virtual Com Port.

I use TIBBO Virtual Com Port software and have connectet a Ethernet/Serial converter (MOXA N-PORT DE-311)(COM4).
I have connectet to the N-Port via a switch.
From the N-Port's Serial I have connectet to the A1SH programmingport (with the SC9-cable).

When I try to get online with the A1SH throug the N-Port I get an error

"Insufficient memory. Close other applications and assure that suffient memory is available"

What does it tell me??

I have shut everything down, else but GX.

Thank you
Dariusch

it means you could use memory upgrade and memory is really cheap nowdays. until then just reboot and it should be ok. windows doesn't release all memory after application is closed (it keeps cache etc.). the more programs you run the less memory is available. system eventually recoups this when applications demand it but GX developer doesn't care, it checks if there is enough free memory and quits without giving chance to OS to provide more. i've seen this on pcs with little ram (like 256Mb) specially when system RAM was shared with graphic card.

Hi Panic,

Thank you.
Now I have solved the ram-problem. But now I got a new problem.
I can not acces the CPU - The default message is popup "Cannot communicate..."

Ok I have used following settings

PC: Parity = Odd
Data Bits = 8
Stopbits = 1

N-Port is configured the same

When I connect direct to the CPU I have to use these settings also.

I can Ping the N-Port, so Where Is the problem??

The settings should be right and I use the right cable to.

Any Idea?

Thank you

Dariusch

"EDIT"

Got the message "An Unusable COM port was specified. Execute again after checking the COM port settings."

But I think there should realy not be any changes or ?

what is your com port number? default port in GX Developer is COM1.
If you use virtual Com port (USB<>RS232 for example) your com port number will be different, tipically Com4 or Com5.
Go to Online menu, select Transfer Setup.
Top row is labeled "PC side I/F". Click on first icon ("serial") and select port that matches your virtual com port number.
On the right side of the form is button labeled Connection Test, try it.

I have tried diffrent COM settings but with no luck.

I can configure the N-Port to the COM I want. So I have tried to change from COM2 to 4 and 5 but with no luck.
I am guite sure the settings should be like: Odd, 8 bit, 1 stop bit.
I have disable all other functions like Flow-control etc.
Is there some other way of testing the Virtual COM at the N-Port?
I have also tried to connect to An A1SJUC24-R2, but with no luck.
I know the SC9 cable is ok - No problem connecting direkt.
Have no idea left how to test... :confused:

ok, let's try something else...
1) go to

Start>
Settings>
Control Panel>
System>
Hardware>
Device Manager>
Ports (COM & LPT)

This will list all of your serial and parallel ports so
you don't have to guess. If it is not there or it has
red or yellow sign over it, it is not going to work properly.
If you see a neat gray icon like below, you port is installed
correctly and you can see it's number:
DevMan.jpg

2) can you start hyperterminal and try to use that port?
If it works ok, you know that GX Developer should work too.
If Hyperterminal works but GX Dev doesn't, it's time to reinstall it.
If HyperTerminal has problem too but the DeviceManager shows
that port is fine, it's time to see if any other application
was (and still is) using that port.

I don't know exact port settings, but A series CPU will only talk at 9600bps
and I'm pretty sure it's 8 data bit, 1 stop bit and odd parity.
Other settings not related to vitual port would be dedicated protocol #5 (binary)
and checksum enabled. If I find the correct settings I will post them later...

Hello,

A3N PLC's do use the RTS and CTS control pins of the RS232 port.

Check that your ethernet interface regenerates these signals.

Antoine.

Hi And Thanks for the reply

Here is the update.

I got the communication to the A1SH -CPU up running throug the programmingport.

The problem was that I did not use the little "nulmoden" converter that was with the N-Port. Was using a gender/female converter :oops: .
I could not use TIBBO either to make virtual com port, because it would not be compatible with the N-port.
I could not see the virtual port in the Device manager, because it wont be shown when using the "Real COM installer" (Was comming with the N-port).

Yes the dipsettings on the N-port is all off.
And Yes the A1SH also use RTS/CTS...

But now I got another problem. Because I want to communicate with the A1SJ71UC24-R2.

I have configured the card as followed:

Mode setting switch is set to "1" = "Protoco l

Settings of Switches SW3-SW12 as:

SW3 = off
SW4 = on (Enable write in run mode)
SW5 = on (Baud rate = 9600 (for a start)
SW6 = off
SW7 = on )
SW8 = on (Databit = 8)
SW9 = on (Parity = set)
SW10 = off (Parity = Odd)
SW11 = off (Stopbit = 1)
SW12 = on (Sum check = set)

Thank you.

Hi Panic mode,

Thank you, I will try it out this afternoon.

Hope the cable will work on a A1SH to.

Dariusch

BTW. I also use Tibbo, but with E-terminal IFC-ETTP ethernet-card. I heard that Tibbo version 2.52 is the newest that work. I think that is true because I have test with newer Tibbo wo. success.
