Will the software from AB (rslinx, rslogix) and Siemens (S7 starting new job not sure on software here) work with Windows home or MCE. I am thinking about using my dauther labtop as a back up, but I am not sure if it will run. I have only ever used pro.

Thanks

Siemens SW

Step 7 Basic/Professional Version >=5.3 which is used to program S7300 and S7400 PLCs needs:
  • MS Windows 2000 Professional ( SP3 or better)
  • MS Windows XP Professional ( SP1 or better)
Step 7 Lite Version >=3.0 which is used to program simple applications in S7300, C7's, ET200S, and ET200X needs:
  • MS Windows 2000 Professional SP3 or SP4
  • MS Windows XP Home SP1 or SP1a or SP2
  • MS Windows XP Professional SP1 or SP1a or SP2
Step 7 Microwin Version >=4.0 which is used to program S7200 PLCs needs:
  • Windows 2000/SP3 or a Windows XP (Home or Professional) operating system.
Hope that helps. Info can be found at

I know that only Windows XP Professional, not Home or MCE, is officially supported for most Rockwell Software products. I know from experience that RSLogix 5000 won't install on an XP Home computer, but 5/500 might.
