I'm am new here, ant this is my first post. So, please be gentle.

My mission, to buy a new laptop, without RS232, and use it to program Fanuc R-J2's with Kfloppy.

Is there a USB or PCMCIA to serial adaptor that will work for this? Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Matt, that is true with some models, but some do not have the PCMCIA interface.

I have only one USB port on my older IBM, Using a "IOGEAR" model GUH274, 4 port USB 2.0 hub and "Keyspan" model USA-19HS USB to serial adapter gives me no trouble at all. This may work on your application

Thank you bluebyu, Can you successfully run kfloppy with that configuration?

Perhaps I should ask a different question. Does anyone have experience with programming Fanuc R-J2 robots?

I don't have experience on the R-J2s but do have experience on all previous models. If I can help let me know.

ctilley, Have you found a USB or PCMCIA to serial adaptor that works with these robots?

you need a :A20B-2000-0600/03A
This memory card adapter plugs into the RJ2 controllers we have. we used to use KFloppy but now that we have the plug in module its obsolete.
You just need to make sure you have a thin pcmcia card.
