Will RSLinx slow down and cause a server to crash more? Boss is wanting to install RSLinx on our server but our IT guys are telling him no because it slow their stuff down to much. Any truth to that?
Now, the real question is: What does he plan on doing with RSLinx on that server? Just by itself, it's not going to do anything. The other uses he has in mind ~may~ be cause for concern by the IT group...
If the 'Server' is your DNS, or Active Directory, then under NO circumstances put anything on it. Sure, you can, but you cannot imagine what a horrible idea it is to run applications programs on a network-critical server.
IT is right. Get your boss to pony up for a dedicated box to act as (I assume) an RSLinx Gateway server.
