I am using a GE PAC RX3i with Proficy Machine Edition. I'm using iFIX to design the HMI/SCADA interface.

I have been mapping memory to the user space memory (%M, %I, %R, etc...) and iFIX has been able to see these variables fine (as long as I publish them as "External"). I am wondering if I do the same with symbolic variables (not assigned a %[M, R, etc...] user space variable), should iFIX still be able to see it? The "External" option still appears in the symbolic variable properties, so I think it would be able to.

Thanks

EDIT: Further inspection indicates that this symbolic memory is located in %W, which apparently is still separate from the rest of the assigned memory.

If you have the current iFix version, you can access the Symbolic variables by name only, you need not use the %W, but you may. Quite versatil actually.
