I understand that some manufacturers enable you to use SD cards, the same ones you use in a camera, for PLC application backup. Telemechanique's M340 supports this.

Do other manufacturers support other uses for SD cards, for example datalogging...?

Thanks! :)

Siemens supports MMC (similar but not the same as SD) cards in their panels, not in the PLCs though.
The MMC cards in the panels can be used for example for logging data.

The one in the M340 is for program backup, it has to be formatted in a certain filetype, only available from Schneider of course so you cant buy a £2.99 one from ebay and expect it to work !!

I'ts a rippoff, all these cards remember the old S5 ram/eprom modules, 300 notes a piece & all they contained was a couple of 2716 chips or simular.
Same goes for all these prog. ports & interfaces you have to buy.
Mitsi have now got it right 232 & USB, all you need is a printer cable costing less than a fiver.
my bags bursting with prog. leads, db25 to 9 converters etc. no room for my pc.
