I am trying to communicate with an Emerson FX 455 positioning drive using the .pcx software. I have done this in the past, but am now having trouble communicating. Have tried different baud rates as well as different RS 232 cables. I am wondering if there may be a different pinout in a 232c, or in the 232c does the "c" mean "current" as I have read. I am thinking one of my co-workers has the cable I used locked in their tool box.

I'm not positive on the exact specifics of why, but IIRC a standard RS232 cable doesn't work with the Emerson drives.

The cable we use for PCX has 2->3,3->2, and 5->5 wiring. All other pins are open (not tied through or looped back). I believe that's the trick to getting comms.
