What hardware do I need to connect to a micrologix 1500 and load a program from my laptop? What cable and do I need to go through a PCMK or PCC card or will the COM port suffice? If using a serial cable, do I use a straight through or crossover? Thank You

Can I use a 1784-pcm5/b through a 1784-pcmk/b communication card? Or just a 9-pin d-shell serial cable?

9 pin d-shell serial cable.
Does your ML1500 have one port or two?
The above mentioned cable (1761-CBL-PMO2 is a null-modem cable)
If your ML1500 has two ports the one on the side (9-pin), any null-modem cable can be used.

Does your laptop have a real serial port? If not, you can use a USB to serial adapter."Keyspan" is a good one see link below to get one.
