panelview- ML1200

Hi Guys, i am under the impression that you can connect the panelview to a mlx 1200 to view the tags when writing a program? can someone guide me in the right direction?thanks stu

STU, Please somebody corrects me if i´m wrong but the only way to program a ML1200 is offline, so I do not see how to do what you say. I have connected PV to ML1200, but both programs RSlogix 500 and panelbuilder have to be done offline and later download them to plc and pv respectively.

hi i have been told that using studio you can go into comms setup and create a link between mlx and pv.then you can view the tags on the plc while you are entering tags to buttons? not to sure myself so i am asking if anyone has done this before. thanks stu

Yes, you can online browse the MLX controller tags from FTView ME Studio. That is the programming software for the PanelView Plus.

PanelView Standard uses PanelBuilder32, and no it does not online browse tags.

hi i have set up the comms in comms set up (the short cut) it is seeing the df1 with the micrologix but when i go to tag browser it is seeing the shortcut there but when i click to view the tags there is nothing? any ideas thanks stu

If you are using FTView Studio 4.0 or earlier, then the MLX tags will not show up. The online browsing to the MLX was not supported until FTView Studio 5.0

However, you can enter the tag address in manually (where needed) and it will work. Or, install/use RSLinx Classic (free use with Studio) to do your online tag browsing.
