Step7 v5.2

Dear all,

Will step7 v5.2 work on XP home edition. I have just recieved the upgrade, problem is my laptop is XP home.

Do I need to buy a new laptop?

It's only tested (and approved) for XP Professional.

S7 ver 5.2

Hi,

I have installed S7 ver 5.2 with SP1 on my home computer running XP home edition.

So far I have had no problems, this does not mean I will not have problems with it though!!

Hi Moggie,

Have you tried to connect your PC to a PLC?. This is where I had the problems.

Yes I have connected my PC to a PLC (S7 300) without any problems.

Hi Martin,

Yes you can run Step 7 v5.2 without any problems under win XP booth professional and home edition. There is also an update to Service pack 1 available at siemens supportpage. Free of charge.

Thanks guys but I have a problem with communication between the PLC and PC. I am using a CP5511 card. I may have found the resoultion at http://www4.ad.siemens.de/WW/view/en/9853739

I have Step 7 v5.2 and Windows XP Home on my laptop. I've had no problems with connecting using the CP5511 or using my ethernet card via Softnet.
