SLC 503 communications DH485 to DF1

I need to switch channel 0 communications from dh485 to DF1.

Is it as simple as setting up RSLINX with PIC driver with RS232 for DH485 and then changing the channel 0 configuration to DF1 then saving. Then switching RSLINX to DF1 driver and getting back online?

Yes.
If you have the proper hardware. Do you have a real serial port on your PC/laptop? You will need one to use that driver (1747-PIC/AIC+ driver)

Other option is a 1747-UIC ( USB to DH485 converter)

I have a real serial port on my computer. I wanted to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything... Sometimes things that seem easy and should only take 5 minutes turns into taking hours.

Even with a real serial port, if it is XP SP3 the PIC has lots of problems. AB also does not support the PIC as of SP3, so we had to switch to the USB option (UIC).

Thanks for the replies.
I have SP2 loaded but I am still having problems getting it to communicate. I have order the UIC cable in hopes that it will work.
I do not get an error when selecting the PIC driver. But it still will not communicate...essentially RSLinx locks up when the cable is attached.
The UIC cable will be in Monday or Tuesday. I will keep you posted on how that works. Any thought or ideas are much appreciated!

What is the cable you are using, catalog number?

Can you post a screen shot of RSLinx?

Cable that I am using is the 1747-CP3. I have attached a picture of RSLinx with the PIC driver. I have gone back to make sure that I have WinXP SP2.

I also received the 1747-UIC yesterday.

Are you sure your SLC5/03's channel 0 is configured for DH485 ? Can you post its .RSS file? Zip it first. Have you tried the DF1 driver, then autoconfigure?

Maybe ASCII, what was/is connected to the port ?
