I'm dealing with a large network with a 255.255.0.0 subnet mask. Lets say 10.1.0.0 with 255.255.0.0 mask; so that gives me from 10.1.0.0 to 10.1.255.255 for addresses. Now I know that using 10.1.0.0 as a static IP is a no-no, but what about the other zero addresses (e.g. 10.1.44.0)?

Same goes for the 255 addresses. 10.1.255.255 should be the broadcast address but what about the rest that end in 255 (e.g 10.1.77.255)?
