Question

Is there a simple way to backup the program and screen cartridge .
I want to extract the contents for backup and have the ability to put it back on a cartridge.

Thanks

Your plastics machinery controls are obsolete. You could limp along spending 2011 monies on 1980's controls, or you can migrate your control system to new off the shelf products, by spending today's money on today's solutions.

If the plastic machinery is small 200 Clamp tons or less, you may be better off with an entire new machine. But if your machine is larger, a new control retrofit can be cost effective.

The majority of a plastic injection molding machine can be controlled with simple ladder logic, even temperature control.
The two axis that should not be controlled by PLC are the Clamp, and Injection. There are "off-the-shelf" hydraulic axis cotrollers designed specifically for injection molding control to be used along with the PLC.

Check the internet for Injection Molding, of Plastic machinery control retrofit inegrators.

I agree that the hardware is obsolete but replacement is out of the question as its a specialised application

I have reviewed the system to replace but the downtime would be too long.
The system is stll operating fine without failure.

All I want to do is backup the program/screens etc into electronic files so I can store them securely

A good integrator can have the system predesigned and programmed. The physical hardware changeout can be attacked by a team to reduce changeover time.

When the MACO fails, and no plan in place, then the downtime will be the longer of the two choices.

We have sufficient hardware backups but only a single cartridge (program/screens) with the software.

Since the software is propriety we do not have the source code to create a new system anyway.
Thats why I am asking how to simply backup and reload into another cartridge the current version.
