I have PG 720P with Step7 and Step7-Micro/Win.
And I want connect PG with S7-200 PLC, but I havn't RS232/PPI Multi-Master Cable. I have only MPI cable (901-0BF00-0AA0).

My questions:
1. Can I connect S7-200 PLC and PG720P with this MPI cable?

2. I have also PC adapter V5.1 (6ES7972-0CA23-0XA)).
Can I use this adapter for connection between S7-200 PLC and PG720P?

Hello Sylwek;
You can use the MPI cable (with a Profibus card) only if you have a Profibus module on your S7-200 (or if you are using a first generation S7-215, with a Profibus node on the processor). In most cases, you do need a PC/PPI cable to connect from the COMx port of your PC to the PPI connector of the PLC.

Hope this helps,
Daniel Chartier

PG720 with built-in MPI card? Use your regular MPI cable. Just plug into the PPI port on the processor

Your laptop can use
MPI,
Profibus (standard, DP, FMS)
and PPI.

In the control panel, go to Set PC/PG interface and change the s7 microwin adapter to
MPI/ISA onboard(PPI). This is how I connect.
