for a-b micrologix, there a a couple of magic scaling numbers, 6241 & 31208 for 4-20 mA. What aew the equivalent numbers for the DL-06 analog in cards?

thank you.

0 to 65535 i think
on the 12 bit resulition stuff 0 to 4095
you should go to the ad site and donwload the dl 05/06 option modules user manual to confirm or disprove this

I would not call them "magic" because those only work for 4-20 mA analog outputs. For 4-20 mA analog inputs, the numbers are 3,277 to 16,384. I think this means that these are not magic numbers, but rather just another pain in the butt.

You have to be able to look up the scaling values that you need in the proper manual, unless you have a perfect photographic memory.

Automation Direct- Common Data Format
Select either Unipolar data format (which is positive data only) in 12 bit (0 to 4095),
15 bit (0 to 32767),
or 16 bit (0 to 65535) format,
or Bipolar data format, which ranges from negative to positive (-4095 to 4095 or -32767 to 32767) and requires a sign bit. Bipolar selection displays input/output as magnitude plus sign, not two’s complement. The bipolar selection is not available when 16-bit data format is selected.

Lancie, i've not used the 3277 to 16384 numbers before? I think think the input/output cards are the same with 4mA=6241 and 20mA=31206, that based on a max mA input of 21 mA.

With the DL-06, i did go read the manual and best i can get is that it (F0-08ADH-1 8 Ch Analog Current Input) is 0 to 20 mA 16 bit resolution 0.305 uA/bit and 0 to 65535 counts. That being the case, (4/20)*65535 = 13107 counts for 4 mA. I guess it just doesn't go above 20 mA?

That is the way it should have been, and many times I have wished it were true, but this is a table from the Allen Bradley SLC 500 Analog I/O Module User Manual:
Converting Analog Input Data
Voltage/Current Range Decimal Representation Number of Significant Bits Resolution per LSB
-10V dc to +10V dc - 1LSB -32,768 to +32,767 16 bits 305.176 μV;
0 to 10V dc - 1LSB 0 to 32,767 15 bits;
0 to 5V dc 0 to 16,384 14 bits;
1 to 5V dc 3,277 to 16,384 13.67 bits;
-20 mA to +20 mA -16,384 to +16,384 15 bits 1.22070 μA;
0 to +20 mA 0 to 16,384 14 bits;
4 to +20 mA 3,277 to 16,384 13.67 bits;

You are right, of course, about the SLCs. I did look it up. However, the Micrologix (referenced above) have changed to the slightly more reasonable magic numbers. Although the manual does say 6240 instead of 6241. Chap 1 Page 5, bulletin 1763 micrologix instruction set.
This is educational. I do service old SLCs from time to time and would have missed that.

Try to recall, that this post was about a KOYO DL-06. That answer was resolved nicely and the analog input is correctly functioning in the field.

Now. The latest has been about Micrologix and in addition to looking in the ML-1100 Instruction Set Ref. Man., I have also been using the "magic numbers" successfully with 1762-IF4 and 1762sc-IF8u (the Spectrum card) and with both the ML-1100 and ML-1400. Hence my confusion, since i knew from direct recent (a few minutes ago) experience that the numbers worked.

I think as others have said " magic numbers" will depend on how you have the card(s) configured. See pdf below.
