We are changing a system from PLC-5 to CLX with remote

I/O and are using the 1756-RIO module. We have (4) remote

racks three of the racks have (1) 1794-IB16 (1) 1794-OB16

and an 1794-IE8. these are all reading the remote discreet

and analog data fine in adapter and scanner mode. one of the

racks has (2) 1794-IB8S, (1) 1794-IB16 (1) 1794-OB16 and an

IE8 at the end this rack will read fine in adapter mode but

won't read the rack in scanner mode any ideas? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum !

The first two adapters sound like they're configured for 1/2 Rack size, while the other should be 3/4 Rack.

Is what you're calling "Adapter" mode the same as what we used to call "Ghost" mode, where the 1756-DHRIO just listens to the RIO network and maps input and output data to its CIP connections, or is it literally an active Adapter ?

If you can post the configuration or a screenshot of the configuration applet that would help a lot.

I can't figure out how to get the picture of the RIO

into this post do you have an email I can send it to.

Thanks,

Hmm.

Each of those seems to have an extra discrete module after the 1794-IE8; your written description says the IE8 is the last module in each adapter.

Did you really run an Auto-Configure, or did you set these up manually to match the PLC-5 scanlist ?

Sorry about that the IE8 is the last one in the

1794 rack but there is an SMC313 RIO valve bank

also I did do an auto configure and can see the values

changing when we are in adapter mode but when we change

the mode to scanner from adapter all of the other module

groups are reading fine except this one group assembly.

each of the other RIO racks have an SMC valve group

with them too.

Thanks again

We also went into the module properties and configured

the IE8 modules for 4-20 and are using 4 channels on the

module. I am going through the PLC-5 code to see if there

is any residual programming left over from when the processor

was first set up I believe that the original programming had

the rack group set up as dual slot addressing and when the

1771 units were replaced by the 1794 and set up as single

slot that there could be some addressing that didn't get

corrected. When we converted the program it didn't show any

collisions or any errors though
