Studio 5000 Version Question

I recently received equipment with L16 CompactLogix controllers running version 31 firmware. I work at a Tech school and all of the training projects associated with this equipment were created with V31 of Studio. My PCs were previously running V24. I attempted (2X) to download V31 from the Rockwell download center, but each time it actually loaded V32. I prefer not to change the firmware in the processors as it will no longer match the curriculum, but Studio would not launch my V31 projects as well... Has anyone had any difficulty downloading Studio V31?

I don't have anything above V30 but what exactly happened?

You mean that after you unpacked the downloaded V31 file, you got a directory for V32 instead?

Yes, I went to the Rockwell download center, and there you are able to pick from several versions. I specifically chose V31.01 and downloaded and unzipped; still no indication I had anything other than 31. Once the installer was running, I noticed below the progress wheel that it was in fact installing V32. I'm at a loss as to why...

just a GUESS ...

quick question: did the download that you have (regardless of what the installer called it) actually do a full installation? ... specifically, can you start and run that installed version? ... if so, go to Help About from the main menu - and check the version number there ...

Yes Ron, the installed version runs and it is V32, when I attempt to open my V31 projects I get the popup that I must change the processor to V32...

Rockwell recently sent out a alert that there was something significantly wrong with v31 firmware and v32 was recommended. Sorry, I couldn't find the exact details.

I have found recently when downloading FTV10 that I selected FTV10 for download. When I went to the next page it had defaulted a drop down list to FTV11 as the package to download.

You need to specify the version twice before actually downloading or you will get the latest version.

It looks like due to the fact that I get the education suite of software, and my 2019 package is now in play, that I am unable to get a retro version. I was able to update one machine earlier this year to v31, but apparently I missed my window of opportunity...

if you have a friendly working relationship with your local Allen-Bradley distributor (and you probably do since you've been granted an educational package) then the distributor can probably help you get everything sorted out ...

TIP: when you call, try to get past the "sales desk" and talk with the PLC specialist instead ...

if I were you, I'd check that angle before I gave up ...

You say you just downloaded ver 32 that's the latest
you need to pull down the list box and select the version you want to download from the list
the last time I went out there they had every version from 10 to 32 available
jus select and download

Yeah, I did that, but 32 was auto-substituted. My Rockwell rep is coming by to give me the versions I need...

Can you elaborate? I have something I want to start up with 31.01 and seems fine.
