Hey Guys,

I have a question about how many cards I can add onto a 1769-L32E ethernet processor with 750K memory. I have to add an additional 3 cards to the existing rack.

The current rack is as follows:

[0] 1769-L32E 750 KB
[1] 1769-IA16/A
[2] 1769-IA16/A
[3] 1769-OW16/A
(Power Supply)
[4] 1769-SDN/A
[5] 1769-IF8/A
[6] 1769-OW8/B

What I want to add:

1769-IA16
1769-OA16
1769-IF8

Looking under rockwell litterature this processor supports up to 16 local I/O cards but do I need to use a 1769-CRL3 connection cable with an additional power supply or can I simply just add the three I/O cards on the end. I know theres some rules regarding how many I/O cards you can have on the each end of the power supply. I was hoping to be able to add the new cards in and the new rack would look like this:

[0] 1769-L32E 750 KB
[1] 1769-IA16/A
[2] 1769-IA16/A
[3] 1769-OW16/A
(Power Supply)
[4] 1769-SDN/A
[5] 1769-IF8/A
[6] 1769-OW8/B
[7]1769-IA16
[8]1769-OA16
[9]1769-IF8

Thanks in advance for any help and input, its very much appreciated.

So I was correct that I could simply add the 3 new cards to the right of the power supply. Thank you for your response, Much appreciated.

When building 1769 racks, I always suggest building them in Integrated Architecture Builder first. There are a few special rules with certain cards pertaining to how far away from a power supply they should be as well as power draw. The number of supported cards also depends on which power supply you have. The 1769-PA2 (or PB2) may be overloaded before you place all the cards on the local rack. IAB will let you know for sure what you have will function as expected.

As Helliana suggests, the main thing to check is the distance rating of the module, which specifies how far from a power supply the module can be placed and still function. Most 1769 modules have a distance rating of 8, but some specialty modules and the 1769-OB32 have a rating of 6. I think that the modules you've specified all have a rating of 8, but you should check to be sure. Or, as Helliana suggests, load it all up in IAB and it'll tell you everything you need to know.
