I have a question about communication between Yaskawa MP2600 and compactlogix of rockwell.
MP2600 have a ethernet port for EtherNet/IP and Modbus/TCP.
My question is : Is possible communicate this brands Rockwell and Yaskawa, if the answer is right, Will I need a OPC?

Not being familiar with MP2600 (is it an IEC version, by the way?), I can say that the whole reason Yaskawa supports Ethernet/IP is to be able to join the "Allen-Bradley world" and to communicate with the Rockwell PLCs.

So the answer is: yes, it most certainly can but you should look for the specifics in the manuals on Yaskawa web site or via their tech support.

Thanks for your answer, but I'm confused, when it is about communicate two brands, although the protocol is the same (Ethernet IP) i'm don't know if i have that use an OPC, when is an OPC used?

Thanks in advance

Yes, this can be done. Depending on the model of Rockwell PLC, you may have to use explicit messaging. There is no non-IEC version of the MP2600, so it is inherently IEC(at least in the US). Use OPC if devices can't talk directly to each other.
