Connecting to PC for the first time

Hello everybody,

I've tried to connect to my PLC ( ET-200S) via PROFINET but I failed. Could you help by telling me how to configure the communication between my PLC and PC. It's my first time and I totally lack experience and knowledge

How are you trying to connect?

Ethernet? I don't believe ethernet and profinet work on the same NIC's. (The cables are also different 8 pin vs 4 pin.)

Profinet can run on "standard" Ethernet networks.
The question is does the PC have software that can understand the "Profinet Protocol".

Do you have Profinet Engineering Software? This can be gotten from several sources.
