Hi guys,
I recently used DirectSoft for the first time, and was successful in modifying the client's machine thanks to some advice from Forum colleagues.
But during my day's work I frequently found myself getting "kicked offline" from the controller. Shutting down DirectSoft and logging out and back into the OS seemed to be the most successful method for getting reconnected.
I'd say I could go about 10 minutes connected without being 'kicked offline', with a status message saying there was no response from the controller.
There is a lot of stuff in between DirectSoft and the DirectLogic 250-1 controller:
Host Computer: Dell Precision M4500 notebook with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
VMWare Workstation 7
Guest OS: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit.
Keyspan USA-19HS with drivers installed on the Guest OS
The controller is running K-Sequence protocol at 9600 baud, which sounds like a default.
Has anyone else experienced 'getting kicked offline' with a DirectSoft, a USB adapter, and VMWare ?
I realize there are a lot of variables here and will be trying to get an XP box with a built-in serial port for future connections to this controller.
I routinely use the same hardware and software to connect to MicroLogix and ControlLogix with the RSLinx Classic DF1 Full Duplex driver and do not encounter any problems. I'll go back and verify that this hardware still works, since it's been a month since I connected to a MicroLogix.
