i have direct soft5 software and was needing to know? if the condition in a rung is false what is the instruction to make the output true..thanks Dave...

It's the NOT instruction. But not all CPUs have it. the 130, 230 and 240 CPU's don't. Check your help file in DS5

In the absence of a NOT operator (INV on some AB PLCs) you can apply DeMorgan's theorem to invert your logic.

Or just change your output to an internal coil and add a rung with a STRN (store not, aka normally closed) and OUT to the original output.
