Sorry, but I can't find the same problem. Let me know what page you're at when you experience that so I can simulate it.
Off the top of my head, try the browser refresh button from the main forum page to see if there are new posts. Probably I misunderstood your situation though.
Then I'll tackle your second suggestion if need be.

IkonBoard does the same thing. Maybe just the nature of the beast.
