Curious if anyone has ever used PME (Proficy Machine Edition) on Windows 10. My current version is 9.0 SIM 12 Build 7236. I believe that was the last SIM ever available for it. I recently was on Windows 7 and did an update over Windows 7 straight upgrade to 10 keeping all my programs intact. PME has been having weird issues. The license client notices my license which is installed local to my laptop. No license client issues but sometimes PME stops recognizing the license or gives pop ups of no license recognition. PME has also been slow at times now when it wasn't on Windows 7. Sometimes clicking the upper left PME icon to access application file list is slow and locks up but resumes if I wait long enough. Other times it loads and ultimately crashes to where I have to reopen it.

I have also tried a clean install. It seemed to work at first but resumed after a day or two. I'm on Win 10 64 bit, 2.7GHz Intel i7, 24 GB of RAM, Direct X12. I would think the stats are enough. I'm curious if a newer PME like 9.8 fairs better. Has anyone else ever experienced these types of issues with PME on Win 10 and were you able to resolve it?

Appreciate any advice members might have on the matter.

Hmm, worries me about Win 7 skeletons to be honest like maybe I need a clean install and upgrading over was a bad idea. Trying to investigate and do a little testing before I go that route though. Appreciate the input :)

I'm running PME 9.5 SIM 23 or 25 on several Win 10 x64 installations with few issues. USB licensing is forbidden in these applications so it is thru the old school method of software authorization.

I have found right clicking on the PME icon and "Run as Administrator" lessens the PME errors a great deal.

About to start a project with 9.8 soon as I can get a license, we'll see how it behaves.

I go back to the beta days with PME and it could seriously use a complete rewrite!

I figured I would post to the thread regarding some experiences after making an observation. Remembering how our companies IT infrastructure works in trying to block everything and realizing automation software almost always wants admin privilege to operate properly, I went into the properties of the .exe and told it to always run as administrator. Since doing that, it has been running a LOT smoother, so good food for thought for anyone also encountering these issues, it's good to check!

I still have some kinks and load hiccups here and there where it seems to be thinking but it resolves very quickly and overall the file menu and issues I was having seem to have disappeared. Admin...we need it! They don't like it but it doesn't change the need.
