I 'm newcomer in PLCs. I want to fetch live data from a s7-300 PLC in a windows based PC. Please suggest me what is the least cost way of doing this.
I have come to known that it is done using OPC server. OPC servers seems to be costly, can i do it without OPC server.
Someone told that it is possible using winc software,is it true?

OPC servers are not expensive. On the contrary.

Since you seem to be cost-conscious, and if this is a one-off project, I recommend that you get a shrink-wrapped datalogger for OPC. Google for "Datalog OPC Client".

A very low cost datalogger for S7-300 is Deltalogics Easylog. It logs to simple CSV files, and works without having to purchase an OPC server.
