Hi, I have a compact flash card type I with programs to run a packaging machine, the data on it was created for B & R PLC (programmable logical controller). I need to save the image of the card onto my PC and if the card gets damaged or something, then I can load the image saved on the PC to a new compact flash card and use it. any free software does the job?, Thank in advance

You can only use B&R software called "Runtime Utility Center", available FREE from B&R website. Go to Download and look under Software, Automation Runtime. The software is packaged inside "PVI Development Setup". Download it, install it, run it, you will see CF Card tools.

I see that you're trying to backup from Power Panel PP41 (4P3040.00-490), which is using 0MC112.9, which is a PC card memory card (or PCMCIA card, not a CF card), 4 MB FlashPROM. In this case, your program is actually resides within BOTH internal memory of the PP41 AND the PCMCIA card (as an extension memory). I suggest you contact the machine manufacturer to get the source code of the application.

Following text is what I copy from another similar question, hope it offers some help.đź‘Ľ

well a free and very useful program for this type of thing is imgburn. at first you may think its just a .iso burning tool but it also allows you to make an .iso file of a disk or even a folder so you could try moving all your stuff into one folder and using imgburn to make it into a .iso file. if all of that doesn't work then just put all of your stuff into an archive by using a program like winrar, this compresses the files and keeps them in 1 file :)

Hello,
'normally' the memory in the card would not be used to store program code but more likely parameters (recipts) of the machine.

I suggest that you use PLTrend to investigate the PP. <PLC-Functions><Upload / Delete Modules> menu gives you a list of ALL modules (operating system, program code, data modules, ...). For every module there is an information of the storage location. Maybe there is something pointing to the memory of the PCMCIA slot.

From my point of view it does make sense to back up data in this way if the application itself does not provide any support in data backup.

If you are doing this, make sure to download the newest version of PLTrend as there where fixed some bugs in the 'Download / delete modules' section recently.
