I have a customer with an Idec FC5A-D12S1E processor. They want to add a few I/O. Yes, this PLC and its output modules are obsolete and thats another discussion...
I may have enough spares but thought I'd look into adding an output module. There are currently 14 slots occupied and it can accept one more module.
However I ran into a particularly nasty little feature on this PLC. It can only have 54 outputs on at one time. There are currently 128 outputs available on the system. Since they have been running like this for awhile I suspect they are below the 54 limit but I'd like to know what that number is.
There is no register to indicate how many outputs are ON, at a time. I could just observe the system and get some kind of count. Take pictures, video module LED's or something like that. But, a more accurate way to do it would be to use some programming.
Any thoughts on some simple programming to put in place that would capture the max. no. of outputs that are on, at a time?
TIA.
